Meet Philippe
Philippe has travelled to many far flung corners of the world, both as a Wildlife photographer and as a guide.
"I am a photographer by passion and this takes me to many places around the world to observe, photograph and document the life of the wild animals in their natural environments."
Philippe Ricordel
Having previously had a very long international career with Peugeot, Philippe was able to capture Wildlife images in remote parts of the world as he was already there for his work with Peugeot. His passion developed over many years and he published several books before finally leaving his career at Peugeot to go full-time as a professional world wildlife photographer. Philippe participates in many exhibitions every year and enters many international competitions both in France and abroad. It is an immense privilege for me to be working with him and to bring his work to an Isle of Man audience and potential customers.
In his own words
"I try to give my work a more artistic, less naturalistic orientation...it takes more time but it serves a purpose: to show wild animals with their own aesthetic that I call the 'beautiful' and I sincerely believe that if the beautiful is shown to the greatest number of people then the awareness of the need to protect will be facilitated.
We must communicate again and again for as many people as possible to understand the link between nature and us, to establish the causal link between our daily actions and the state of the environment, its impact on flora and fauna and by ricochet, on us.
This is where my motivation lies in travelling the world from the Arctic to the Antarctic, from Africa (South Africa, Congo, Kenya, Rwanda in particular) to Japan to Indonesia, India and China, without forgetting the Americas from northern Alaska to Patagonia via Brazil and Chile. In Europe, France, Spain, Norway and others are among the countries visited." Philippe Ricordel
