Be part of the move towards a waste-free future
Through research and development, Krill Design have created a new type of material. The orange (seeds, pulp and peel) are harvested from San Pellegrino and then dried out. This is then turned into a powder which is mixed with a biopolymer made from bacterial fermentation. The compound is turned into pellets and then into a filament. This filament is fed into a 3D printer to make the body of a lamp. The final product is OHMIE, the world’s first desk lamp made from orange peel.
From Sicilian orange fields to Milan where it gets created, Italian at heart,
OHMIE is designed in synergy with nature, to bring you something unique:
* Light beam at the perfect angle to light up the working area.
* Dimmable switch to cater to everyone’s needs.
* Unprecedented material experience: organic, suggestive, soothing.
* Low energy 1 Watt bulb - which gives enough light to read and work.

Look beyond the appearance of Orange Peel scraps to see their potential and how they can be transformed into a new material for new Design Products.
Krill Design Client AutoGrill who run resturants on the Italian Motorway Network, use 28 million oranges per year. They can become so much more than juice...
Krill Design created a new biopolymer from Orange Peel. Then, new products were designed and 3D printed with the new biopolymer and used in the AutoGrill stores, with an aim to save 85 tonnes of CO2.
A step towards a better future,
where bio-materials can replace plastics.
